Summary
Victoria turns and looks right at him.
Misto blinks. He glances around but she can’t possibly be looking at anyone else.
“You’re a magician,” she says, meaning him, because regrettably, there are no other magicians here. “You can magic her back.”
“What?” The word sounds faint coming from his mouth.
She’s staring right at him, and—oh Everlasting—so is everyone else. Tumblebrutus, sat at the base of the ramp, leans in with wide eyes like he expects Misto to pull Old Deuteronomy out of his hat right then and there. Under the scrutiny Misto feels the distinct urge to exit his own skin. As it is, he scoots the two inches away that he can manage without falling off of his perch.
Horrifyingly, Munkustrap actually seems to be considering the idea. Even more horrifyingly, there’s real hope in his expression when he turns to Misto as well. “It’s not a bad idea. Might be worth a try,” he says, voice carefully light and gaze far, far too intense for Misto to deal with.
“No, I can’t,” Misto says, shuffling backward.

Misto knows his limits. He can conjure a bone, some mice, maybe a bouquet of flowers. An entire cat is completely out of the realm of possibility.

Summary
The image of Louis seeing him off as he was dragged into the depths of hell is burned into Owen's mind. That alone - the knowledge that he's broken the heart of the only person he's met that was worth a damn - must have been considered enough of a torment that he got to skip the whole "tortured in the eternal inferno" thing.
Owen wakes up to find Oakhurst has been reset to the day he initially woke up from his nap. No blood has been spilled, no fires have been started - everyone is fresh on the land and completely unawares of the horrors that await them. To rub even more salt in the wound, Abolish's cure for vampirism followed him, and he was once more forced to live in his accursed human body.
Well, not that Owen cares, really. He's done his time. He's played this game once, and he couldn't even say he walked out satisfied. Let the humans and the vampires fight and kill each other - he's perfectly content to live out of sight and out of mind of those wretched people. He doesn't need their company, and it's not like anyone will notice or care if he's absent, besides.
