Summary
Jon and the new hire in Research bond over IT frustrations, much to his surprise.

“Well, frankly your professionalism is none of my business. It’s not my problem how your probation goes.”
Jon winces to himself the second the words are out of his mouth, closing his eyes like doing so might suck them back in. 'Well, there that goes', his internal monologue sighs in its bleakly familiar defeatedness. Miraculously though, that warm cackle rings out again through his self-imposed darkness.
“Ouch. Come on, have we not bonded over cursing Microsoft to hell? I was really starting to feel a connection there. Or was that just the Wi-Fi signal fighting for its life?”
Jon dares to open his eyes. Tim is grinning at him. Like maybe, just maybe he hasn’t ruined -
“Perhaps a bit of both,” he attempts tentatively, and receives for his effort a laugh perhaps best described as 'generous.'
