    Summary

“Since I was possessed by one of the Captain’s old soldiers, I think his loyalty must have latched on to me, which is why I feel upset when the Captain is not around.” Ororon says.
Citlali is staring blankly at him. She says, “I think I have severely overlooked one aspect of your education.”
"Grandma, should I join the Fatui?"
She throws an ancient artefact at his head, which Ororon dodges with experience. “YOU LITTLE BRAT - IS YOUR HEAD FOR DECORATION?! DON’T YOU DARE RUN - I’M BREAKING BOTH YOUR LEGS BEFORE YOU GET ANY MORE DUMB IDEAS-”

Ororon can't stop thinking about the Captain.

    Summary

Halsin was a relatively new addition to their camp, and Astarion wasn’t quite sure what to make of him. Of course, the druid certainly pretended to be kind, and helpful, and considerate, but surely that was just a little too good to be true. Astarion needed to keep his guard up, because it seemed that there were fresh things trying to kill them on a daily basis, even on top of the ever-present threat of ceremorphosis, and he still had Cazador to worry about. It was certainly no time to go soft.

Astarion negotiates the plot of Baldur's Gate 3 (and a little bit beyond), facing the standard trauma and tribulations, all while stubbornly trying to avoid falling in love with their resident druid.

    Summary

“Your master must be fond of sending others to do his dirty work,” Halsin said.
Astarion’s eyes flicked up to meet his gaze. He was shrewd; he knew then that Halsin understood the situation. Halsin belatedly realized that the vampire spawn’s flushed face could be from hunger. Halsin’s chest dripped with freshly spilt blood.
“You have no idea,” Astarion said in a tight voice. “How much of his dirty work I have done.”
Halsin spread his hands in a gesture of surrender, of passivity. “I know it wasn’t your choice.”
“I did what I had to do to survive.”
Halsin recognized the words; he had said them before himself.

Astarion adapts to his new life in the sun, seemingly free of Cazador, but with no shortage of enemies who would see him captive again. Halsin, burdened with responsibility for so many that he often forgets himself, encounters some of the same enemies in his quest to restore the balance of nature.

After rescuing each other in a goblin camp, the pair finds they may have more in common than shared enemies...
