Jack Crawford has assembled a team to fight the growing influence of vampires in North America, hidden in plain sight beneath a janitorial service. Bella is his government liaison. Jimmy is the receptionist. Zeller and Bev do vampire-fighting tech and science, and Bev's work has led to a discovery -- a serum that can give a human being vampiric strength, speed, and healing with none of the limitations (blood drinking, aversion to sunlight, all that jazz). The man selected to receive the serum and fight the UnDead is Will Graham, whose empathy pulse makes it impossible for him to be glamoured as well.
Last but not least, there's a rather unconventional team member -- Dr. Hannibal Lecter, ancient vampire, who has turned against his own kind. Well, he is a cannibal, after all. As in, he only drinks the blood of other vampires. And, in a tale as old as Buffy, he's fallen for the vampire slayer.
