    A man comes into the dusty bookstore in which Martin works. His entrance rings the bell above the threshold- the man cringes when he does so, and so Martin thinks that maybe he won't come back. He does, though- he comes back again. And again. Each time, the bell ruptures the quiet less and less until the man comes in as silent as a mouse, to the point where Martin barely even knows he's there.

    Beauty is such a quiet thing, Martin muses.

    “I felt you twitch when he came in,” Jon replies derisively.
    “Yeah, well, I felt you clench, so. Glass houses,” Tim counters. “It caught me off guard, is all. He’s never walked in on us before.”
    Leaning his head back against Tim’s shoulder, Jon closes his eyes for a moment. “I know,” he says, his voice softened somewhat. “It shouldn’t be a thing, though, if this is going to work. Right?”
    Tim nods, his cheek rubbing against Jon’s hair, his arms tightening around Jon’s waist. “That’s very reasonable of you,” he commends him, half joking. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re on your way to becoming downright easygoing.”
