Zuko’s late night shifts at the dormitory laundromat were never that exciting. At least they weren’t, until the cute guy with the questionable wardrobe started coming by. It’s a lot harder to be bored at your job with someone like Sokka around.

Zuko doesn’t say a thing. He’s barely even moved since answering the door, his fingers still gripping the handle too tightly. “Are you alone?” Sokka finally asks under his breath, trying to snap Zuko out of the spell he’s under. “Is your dad here? We’ll come back later if he is. I’m not risking things if he’s around.”
The pizza box in Sokka’s hands nearly goes flying from the force of Zuko’s hug. Suki graciously snags it before Sokka drops it entirely, and suddenly he’s hugging Zuko back, clutching the back of his shirt so tightly that he feels like he might accidentally rip it.
“You’re not here,” Zuko chokes out against Sokka’s shoulder, and Sokka can hear the shock in his voice. “There’s no way you guys are actually here.”
“We are. We’re really here, I promise.”

Sokka will do whatever it takes to protect Zuko. And if that means driving cross-continent to help him escape Ozai’s abuse? He’ll do it in a heartbeat.

The gaang meet a scarred teen with unresolved feelings about the Fire Nation and Honor who's been half-adopted by the Kiyoshi warriors. Pursued by Zhao and several old men trying very hard to get Zuko to sit down for a game of Pai Sho, the Gaang travel to the North Pole. Once the presence of the Avatar and his companion-trying-really-hard-to-go-by-Lee are confirmed, Ozai's heir is charged with bringing home both the Avatar and the Traitor. Exeunt, pursued by Azula.

He hadn’t expected this.
He’s met many Kyoshi Warriors in his lifetime, but the tall, broad warrior standing at Suki’s side is new entirely. The green robes don’t reach his feet the way they should, but it fits well everywhere else. And his face… god. The makeup has obviously been applied by a trained hand, perfect strokes lining his eyes and highlighting just how beautifully blue they are.

Unfortunately, he has no smegging clue what it is, except for a vague feeling that his world was shifted slightly to the left and something was missing. And when the Cat comes barging in monologuing on how Lister and Kryten "smell off", citing his nose and instincts, Rimmer has to grapple with the possibility of the existence of a Lister who sees past his smeg and thinks of him, dare he say, fondly.
