He’s not going to steal from the doctor- too many rely on her. Same with the apothecaries. They make his father’s medicine. He cannot betray their trust. And he can’t chance stealing any more from the farm baron than he already is. If he gets caught again, he’s going to lose a hand, which frankly, he doesn’t mind so long as his family is cared for.
Hence: chasing the fool’s hope of the golden orchard, and its life-restoring fruit. A fool’s hope is all he has, right now.

He could be driven mad by such a hunger. He suspects he already has.

Summary
When Sanemi had attempted to convince Kyojuro to leave the demon behind, Kyojuro countered by telling Sanemi he could go to the safehouse if he wanted to, and Kyojuro would be more than happy to keep an eye on Akaza all by himself. In response to this, Sanemi, who both refused to leave his friends unguarded and would rather die than admit that they were friends to begin with, appeared to develop a sudden facial tic, and may or may not have howled like an animal at them when his words failed him. Grumbling neither subtly nor quietly, he began stomping in the general direction of their would-be lodgings, and away they went.

He scents the air again, long and luxuriant, and makes a pleased, hungry little hum, as though he were catching the scent of some lavish feast made just for him.

“The sun is coming up,” he says, quite stupidly. Nothing in Kyojuro’s countenance changes, but the fire that makes up the soul of him towers impossibly high for fractions of a second. Normally, Akaza might be enchanted by it, but right now it just annoys him. Everything annoys him, currently.
Or: Akaza takes care of Kyojuro, then Kyojuro takes care of Akaza. The demon begins to remember what it means to be human.

It’s unclear, exactly, what could’ve caused things to go as sideways as they did. Perhaps their sire was not as thorough as He thought He’d been, in ending them. Perhaps, in His haste to get away, He had not been careful enough, in passing on His gift to Nezuko, and her mother and siblings had also been given it through sheer exposure. Their sire was a gluttonous hound, after all, and their wounds had been many and deep. If Nezuko in her incubation could turn away from Him, perhaps the rest of them could, as well.
In any case, receive His gift they had, and turn from His sight they did, hidden away from Him and the rest of the world on their mountain.
Or: Muzan turns all the Kamados by accident, and Tanjiro tries to take it in stride.

The festivities are interrupted when the creatures of Shadowfang Keep, long thought dead, begin to crawl out of the dark places of Tirisfal once more.

Is that the moonlight, striking his irises at just the right angle, painting him a predator in what parts of his silhouette it doesn’t show, making him far more frightening in the dark of night? Are his teeth sharper, or do they just gleam with that same pale light? He doesn’t know.
But then Garrosh passes into candlelight, and his wolfish visage dissipates. Garrosh is familiar again, familiar as he’s always been. His glare is the same glare it always is: worried for him, masked with irritation. This is hardly the first time he’s had to bully Thrall into taking proper care of himself. Perhaps Thrall is just being paranoid. Silly, even.

This is certainly not what he had expected when he had followed her into the trees. He’s not entirely certain what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t this. He’s not sure it would’ve mattered- she asked, and he followed. She could’ve asked him anything at that point and he probably would have obeyed, would still obey now, but she had been so timid, so unsure of herself. It was terribly endearing, and not all helping him to dislodge the ever-persistent thoughts of Them, Together, one creature, one thing, hands on hands, skin on skin, the air cold and wet and tasting of frost and thunder.
