Summary
Rio is the one to roll her eyes when the woman looks down at her watch again. It’s no fun if she isn’t engaging. “So… who’s the lucky date?”
“What does it matter to you?” she snaps, and Rio does roll her eyes again, right in front of her. The goal is to set her off, isn’t it? And the woman is getting on her nerves.
“Well, I know what daisies mean. It’s thoughtful,” Rio explains. “They’re… pure. They signify new beginnings. You’re dressed well, and you’re impatient. The date must mean enough to you. And you want this bouquet to be nice, don’t you? So tell me more.”
Or,
Rio owns the local flowershop, and she can't help but be curious about her newest customer. Agatha shows every week, needing flowers to bring to her dates, and... Rio is interested, even when it should be a massive red flag.

Summary
This is what Amanda does. Smiles at her, teases her a little, friendly until it sounds half like an insult. She'll look around as if she's too good to be working there.
Then, once they both retire to their shared cabin for the night, she won't want to talk much. Angela understands needing some alone time, some peace after a long day, but… It's all so superficial. The little they get along, Angela is convinced, is only because they have to; otherwise, the job would be miserable.

Summary
“I used to be engaged,” Amanda starts.
“Huh.” Angela isn't all that eloquent, but she looks up at Amanda, letting her know she's listening.
“It's going to be two years since I called it off in a week.” Amanda finishes her wine, too, setting both their glasses down before she continues, “He was… honestly, he was perfect at first. I kept thinking I didn't deserve him. So loving, he worshiped the ground I walked on.”
“At first,” Angela repeats, her hand soothing where it's been resting over Amanda's back.
“They’re always charming at first.” Amanda nods, agreeing.
Or,
Amanda works through her past, Angela works through her present. It would just be a lot easier if Angela let them work together.

Summary
“Did the pastries hurt you, Doctor?” It’s Ryan’s attempt at levity, and at getting her to talk behind a metaphor. She appreciates him more than she can put into words.
She hums a positive, “Mhm. I’m short two pastries. And I wasn’t planning on it.”
“Did someone take them?”
“No.” She drags Yaz’s hand to her hair and receives a few scratches before she begins on a braid. Perfect. “I let her have them. They were for her and her husband.”
Or,
The Doctor has been missing her favorite Portuguese pastries. Only she finds someone she's been missing just as much.
