In order to support herself, she takes on what she thinks will be the easiest job of her life. How hard could it be to act as a bodyguard to a princess? Little did Samus know, the mission would balloon in insanity due to various things, including but not limited to:
Confronting an ancient demon, teaching a chosen hero about ethics, immersing herself in the political machinations of a magic ridden medieval kingdom, getting mind controlled, fighting a dragon, making more friends than she's ever had in her life, and falling in love with one princess Zelda.
That last one would end up changing her life forever.
