Summary
Perhaps they can be friends... in an only-in-public, Thursday afternoon sort of way.
Now (Feb '23) with an epilogue.
——-Note on the archive warning: it refers to an important element of the backstory that arises fully in the fifth chapter. The characters take it seriously as a crucial, though not central, part of this story.

Summary
Once again, for the second time today, I’m hitting you with the same prompt…
Prompt summary: Alex and Matt are filming a sex scene but, when Matt shifts against her, Alex comes for real. She pretends that she’s fine, but claims she needs to “get some air”, completely mortified, whilst Matt remains oblivious, thinking it was only her fantastic acting abilities. Because she runs out, Matt thinks his physical response made her uncomfortable and he goes after her to apologise, terrified and fearing that he has violated her when he finds her crying.

Summary
Looking back, it was hard for the Doctor to say exactly when he’d stopped running. The grief and resentment he’d been nursing since their first meeting had given way, little by little, to a terrifying thrill in the pit of his stomach. It was that magnetic pull; the undeniable certainty that he was colliding with his future each time he crossed paths with River Song.

Summary
“Did the pastries hurt you, Doctor?” It’s Ryan’s attempt at levity, and at getting her to talk behind a metaphor. She appreciates him more than she can put into words.
She hums a positive, “Mhm. I’m short two pastries. And I wasn’t planning on it.”
“Did someone take them?”
“No.” She drags Yaz’s hand to her hair and receives a few scratches before she begins on a braid. Perfect. “I let her have them. They were for her and her husband.”
Or,
The Doctor has been missing her favorite Portuguese pastries. Only she finds someone she's been missing just as much.
