    J had forgotten about soulmates entirely.

    The Day of The Rift had rocked the entire planet, bringing calamity, destroying countries and with it; Cha Eui-jae’s peaceful life.

    He had awakened on the same day, right there in the ruins of his home amidst the bodies of his family. He hadn't thought about soulmates at the time, all that had plagued his mind in that moment was survival.
    ‘I want to live,’ He'd thought, more a desperate prayer than anything else; and so, the System had answered, giving him the power to survive.
    From then on, J’s life had been nothing but one long, exhausting fight to stay alive

    When Cha Eui-jae Awakened he gained abilities, strength, and a pair of mostly black wings. He found that he had not only gained wings, but also the instincts of the bird he took after: the crow. As more Awakened at an S and A rank he found himself more and more isolated in a world of high ranking eagles, hawks, and other regal birds of prey. Amid criticism that a bird associated with death could be the nation's hero, he disappeared into the West Sea Rift and was presumed dead.

    8 years later he returned to a world that was strange, one where he was unneeded by the greater public, but where he could be of help to those who took in a starving crow. Everything was going just fine until, on one of his nightly flights to keep an eye on the neighborhood, he runs into a rather irritating vulture who then insists he come work for his Guild.

    Lee Sa-young recovers enough before the West Sea Rift to partly regain both the dexterity in his hands and his eyesight. Taking advantage of this he uses a notepad to communicate his name and Cha Eui-jae decides to give him a phone.

    After J is lost to the West Sea Rift Lee Sa-young keeps the phone in the hope that maybe, someday, his Hyung will come back and reach out to him. He's surprised both to hear the phone ring in the middle of a guild meeting and to hear a heartachingly familiar voice on the other end.

    In a strange turn of events, everyone abruptly felt their souls being pulled from their bodies, transporting them to an unusual, space-like dimension. Rather than drifting aimlessly, it felt as if they were walking on an unseen path. The expanse was vast, but what truly captivated them was a luminous white trail curling around their feet, seemingly inviting them to follow. As they progressed along this path, they began to notice translucent figures appearing, their conversations resonating like faint echoes of forgotten memories before dissipating. This phenomenon continued until they finally arrived at the trail's end, where they awakened back in their own bodies.

    Or: The group ventured into J's memory lane, witnessing fragments of his past and glimpses of his future. Cha Euijae is not amused.
