Summary
Yasha stared back at the wake fanning out behind the ship and fidgeted with a piece of frayed rope in her hands. Her hair streamed out over her shoulder, tangling in the wind. She hooked it behind her ears, over and over and over. It escaped every time.
Caduceus leaned into the railing. "I can braid it back, if you want."
Yasha peered at him through the wild strands of her hair. "Would you?" she said. "I haven't been able to, myself. For a while." And wasn't that all too familiar. He felt his aunt's phantom hands running softly over his head, and let the wind pull them away.
Four times Caduceus braided someone's hair (or had his hair braided), and one time he braids his own.

Summary
And maybe in another universe, the hindsight wouldn't hurt so bad. And maybe in another universe, she'd have an actual use for her fists beyond venting her frustrations into a sticky 24/7-gym punching bag at 2 a.m., but in this universe... in this universe? Her Wall Street father takes one look at her, angry and defensive and restless, all the goddamn time, and sends her to a fucking psychiatrist.
Beau's father threatens to cut her off completely if she doesn't "fix" herself.
This is only slightly about that.

Summary
"Guys, I think we messed up," Joji says. "I swear we double and triple checked, but there's not enough futons for everyone. I think we forgot about Haiji coming with us when we were counting...."
...
Hana's hand tightens almost painfully on Haiji's shoulder, and judging by his wince, on Kakeru’s shoulder as well. But Haiji knows that Hana is kind. Hana wouldn't throw Haiji under the bus."Why don't you two share?" Hana is evil. Hana threw him under the bus, got into the driver's seat, and is now doing sick figure eights over his prone corpse. Her evil little eyes gleam with self satisfaction.
"What a good idea!" he says, instead of challenging Hana to a duel on the spot like he wants to. He’d probably lose anyway.
In Kakeru's fourth year of university, Haiji joins the Kansei University Track Club during their summer training camp. He's determined to relax and Be Normal around Kakeru, but forces outside his control are making this very, very difficult for him.

Summary
"You ever been so in love," Jester asks, "that you feel sick with it? To the point where you- you can't tell if its real anymore, because it feels so terrible all the time, so," she flutters her hands through the air, can't find the word she's looking for and just whines gibberish instead, "that it can't be real?"
Across the table, Beau puts her cup back down.
Jester is confused, and goes to Beau for advice.

Summary
“Haiji-san.”
“Yes? I’m here.”
“Are you?” He finally stutters out, a mask of bravery he is definitely, a hundred percent, not feeling right now.
Haiji hands slip off his face, and the anaemic light of the room burns Kakeru’s eyes. Weak sparkles of color become solid shapes, and shapes become reality. And reality is Kiyose Haiji sitting in front of him, legs touching somewhere along the way, his whole body only two words away.

Summary
Will ignores a timid reply from his classmate, his focus fully on this strange interloper that could be his best friend’s twin.
Evil twin, as Dustin would say, his voice low and incriminating. Ultraman type shit. Will considers relaying the situation on their upcoming weekly call to make the current situation less unsettling.
The guy is cautiously smiling back now – a reflection of Will’s unconscious expression at the thought of Dustin’s clarification – and it doesn’t falter, even once Will loses his amusement. Instead, the grin widens, almost too big for his face and definitely too big for Mike’s usual range of expression. His eyebrows rise above the rim of his lenses.
