Dabi didn’t have to earn his place at Hawks’s dinner table. He was allowed to eat what he wanted to eat, and when he wanted to eat. Hawks never pushed him to finish a meal, just reminded Dabi that it would be good to get something in his stomach. Dabi was still allowed to control the pace at which he wanted to heal. And it was healing, what he was doing. Against his better judgement, this is where he had arrived. He needed to get stronger, he couldn’t stand up to his father otherwise.
