Summary
And this is how Isabel Conklin sees Conrad Fisher for the first time in a decade: in the narrow galley kitchen of a sailboat called Beckon, naked under her terrycloth bathrobe, mascara smeared beneath her lower lashes, balancing a Diet Coke and Taylor’s Dyson Airwrap in one hand and a fistful of saltines and blue raspberry taffy in the other. It is, to put it mildly, not how she would have preferred the reunion to go.
(Ten years after Susannah's funeral and five years into a successful acting career, Belly books a sailing charter for her best friend's bachelorette weekend. No one told her it was Conrad Fisher's boat.)

Summary
He thinks about how standing in the aisle of that commuter train, whizzing through a Parisian suburb with the pad of his pointer finger pressed delicately against the hollow of Belly’s throat, was the first time someone told Conrad they loved him since, well, maybe since his mom died. It took until the sixth or seventh time Belly said it, murmured between kisses and sighed against his heart, that Conrad could even hear the words without feeling like the wind had just been knocked out of him.
(Forget touch starved; Conrad is pretty sure he has a loneliness hangover. Or something like that.)

Summary
The double doors open with a thwack as she pads into the kitchen, humming a song in French off-key. And there, standing at the kitchen island in seersucker swim trunks and a white tee, is… a man. A stranger. Belly feels sort of like a fucking idiot, because she sees this stranger and it’s like a chorus of angels starts playing in her head. Or, like, at least a Taylor Swift song.
(Newly home from Paris, Belly decides to take a job babysitting a rich family's mansion on Cape Cod for the winter. She expects nine months of studying for the GRE, watering plants, and watching old movies. She does not expect their
very hottwenty-four-year-old son to start showing up.) -

Summary
She considers calling Taylor. She considers throwing her phone out the window. She considers tracking down her laptop and doing a deep-dive into the operation of the Hinge algorithm, so she can decide whether this chance-meeting-by-app was a matter of fate, circumstance, or mathematics.
(Three years after almost marrying his brother, Belly stumbles across Conrad Fisher's profile on a dating app. She's being, like, totally normal about it.)

Summary
His fist is soft on her door, but it swings open on the hinges almost immediately. And there she is: Belly, grinning, barefoot in a white sundress and red lipstick. She looks like a dream, Conrad thinks. He’s definitely had this dream once or twice before. He maybe even had it last night. He had no idea it was possible to dream about Belly more than he already did, but the last few nights have taught him to never say never.
(Four days after Belly jumps on a train to confess her love, Conrad returns to Paris.)

Summary
“Let me get this straight,” Jeremiah says. “You want to go to an anonymous sex party at Brown University—even though you hate frats—because you think it could get me a summer job?”
“Yeah,” Belly replies, as they both dance around the delicate matter of his brother’s recent rise to becoming a Brown frat president, “I guess I do.”

“So, it’s not a big deal then, right?” Gemma says. “One week in Tuscany, Italian countryside, huge, romantic wedding ceremony, wine, good food, both Fisher brothers, no big deal?”
“Right,” Belly agrees. “No big deal.”

Summary
For years, Belly and Conrad clung to the same careful reassurances that time would dull the ache, that letting go was the only way forward.
Tonight, on a hidden stretch of beach where the tide rises as high as the stakes and confessions bleed into salt and sand, they're given another chance.
—
Or that AU where Belly and Conrad run away from her wedding together.

Summary
An incomplete list of things roommates Belly and Conrad will say just this once to:
1.) Watching TV together when they can’t sleep. (Oops, it becomes a routine rather quickly.)
2.) Sharing a bed. (A pipe burst in their apartment and they have to get a hotel room, what are they supposed to do?)
3.) Having sex with each other. (Sexual tension is taut between them, and they’re getting it out of their system. But then they’re doing it again. And again, and then one last time, for real . . . Fifth time’s the charm, surely.)
What’s next, falling in love? Yeah, right.

Summary
This time was always coming, she reasoned. The point had finally arrived where she and Conrad had to navigate being around each other again—only this time, both immersed in the consequences of the unspeakable things they had done that night. And of the decision she had made to marry his brother anyway.
Summary: In the days leading up to her wedding to Jeremiah, Belly crossed every line with Conrad Fisher. She married Jeremiah anyway. Three and a half years later, everything comes undone across the course of one weekend and the year that follows.
