Summary
McCoy is betrayed and blamed for a plague that killed millions of inhabitants of Beta Kell. The Enterprise crew know he is innocent but are unable to prove and free the doctor. He is forced to be a prisoner in a mine and is tortured. Kirk feels responsible and withdraws from the crew while he works on a way to save McCoy. This creates conflict within the crew especially between Scott and Kirk. They must unite to find a way to help the doctor.
