Leon Kennedy, Grace thought as she stared down at the man laying limply on the floor. Limbs splayed and skin covered in deep, black bruising. Was absolutely nothing like he had first appeared.

Summary
The hospital is full, so Leon ends up in a bed in the pediatric ward.
-~-
The room around him is strangely colorful for a hospital, all blue couches and polka-dotted green curtains hanging around his bed, the walls decorated in unobtrusive shades of white and teal. Little sea creatures decorate the walls in places, rotund, smiling seals playing with happy crabs and fish. "Where… am I?”

Summary
Leon's spent the last hour watching his target drink and flirt and dance while his hearing slowly goes from the deafening music of this overly-packed club. He wishes that he could have at least picked his own outfit for this mission. People keep staring at him, and he already hates undercover missions enough as it is. They've made it that much harder for him by sticking him into the tightest clothes he's ever worn, and if he has to evade one more person offering to buy him a drink he's going to resort to pretending not to speak English.
The night is slogging on and there's no hope in sight for him to complete this mission easily. At this point, he's hoping for a miracle to come along so that he can get it done quickly and leave this place behind.

Summary
Leon gets a migraine after many nights of sleeplessness. It's not easy, training under Krauser.
-~-
Consciousness comes back in a rush, a gasp escaping his lungs from the shock of icy water that splashes violently across his face. He flounders for a moment, spluttering on water before he can properly blink his eyes open. Krauser stands beside his bed, holding a rusty-looking bucket that drips water onto the hardwood floor, a rhythmic tapping sound. His face is a mask of displeasure.
"Get your ass out of bed, Rookie," he growls. "I don't care how many hours you like to sleep, training starts now. On the field in five."

A DSO-BSAA joint gala event goes wrong- and of course, Leon, hungover and wishing he were anywhere else, ends up caught in the crossfire. So much for enjoying the free drinks.
At least Piers is there.
-~-
A high-pitched scream breaks the silence without warning. Everyone’s heads snap towards the back of the room—or rather, everyone except for Leon. It takes him a moment to register the sound, blinking dazedly when the quick turn makes his head spin. So, he’s a little more intoxicated than he’d wanted to be. Muscle memory still lets him reach for his gun, throwing himself up onto the table to scan the room in a single smooth leap."Zombies!" someone shouts, and the room explodes into chaos.

“There's a man goin' 'round takin' names
And he decides who to free and who to blame”The sun had started to set, the golden rays blanketing across Sherry’s peaceful face in the backseat. A small victory to see her with that untroubled expression, like any kid sleeping on a road trip. Not one who had just lost her parents, her home, and her childhood in one fell swoop. It broke his heart all over again.
Leon couldn’t do it anymore, he was terrified. He was cursing himself for letting Claire leave, and then cursing himself for thinking that in the first place. Get it together, you’re the cop here, you can handle this, he thought as he shook out his head, trying and failing to will away the creeping fatigue. His frustration with himself, with this entire situation, wasn’t enough to keep him awake.

The world turns to a smear of pain and movement as Leon forces his ailing body to speed up, vaguely aware of the hallway passing around him until a strong arm slides its way around his shoulders. Chris's familiar musk of sweat and gunpowder envelops Leon's senses."Took care of the big one," Chris rumbles, rifle clattering at his side as his fingers find Leon's belt, supporting his weight with a hand hooked under the leather. "Let's get out of here."

Summary
Leon stared into those disturbingly familiar eyes again–growing ever closer, attached to a furry body that had to be at least seven feet tall when walking on two feet–and came to a realization that left him feeling equal parts shocked and indignant. “Chris?” he hissed out, lowering the gun when the creature ducked its head and whined quietly. “Are you fucking kidding me right now?”
Another whine, and there were paws–no, they were more like hands, albeit the size of tennis rackets–on Leon’s shoulders, hot like brands through his clothes and body armor. Before Leon could react to that, there was something wet and slightly rough dragging over his cheek.
He was being licked.
Chris was licking him.

Chief Irons is a paranoid man.

"So, you saw something you shouldn't have." Irons continues his rant gleefully, chuckling over the clatter of glass. A sharp, pungent smell splits the air, and Leon can't help but freeze. He recognizes that, too, from dissecting frogs in eleventh grade.Formaldehyde.

Piers frowned. His prosthetic arm was around Leon’s torso, holding him up, and he used his teeth to tug off his glove from his left hand so he could press his palm on Leon’s forehead. “You’re hot.”
Without thinking, Leon replied. “Thank you, you too.” He probably had fever, for real, he could use it as a defense if he said anything too out there.
The answer was an eyeroll, and Piers scoffed. “You’re not as funny as you think you are.”

Leon's a firefighter. Piers is an EMT.
-~-
The air is hot around Leon as he chokes on smoke and ash, the child in his arms still sobbing and coughing into the rag he'd tied hastily over the bottom half of her face as he crawls on his hands and knees through the flaming hallways of the apartment building. He's not wearing any of his equipment, just the sweats and t-shirt he'd had on at home, the fire alarm and resulting evacuation of his own building not giving him time or resources to don his firefighting gear and gas mask.Bookmarked by jarpad

Summary
The bed is empty.
For a moment, Chris thinks he has the wrong room. He almost goes to check the room number again before his eye catches the blanket crumpled at the foot of the bed, haphazardly strewn over the side and spilling onto the floor. Various leads and sensors from the monitors connect to nothing but the pillow they're resting on, their screens black— no beeps or hums or alarms. An IV line hangs from the bag on the pole and leads his gaze down to the floor where the needle rests in a puddle of fresh blood.
"God damn it, Leon—"

Leon gets sick.
-~-
He wakes to the sensation of a hand on his forehead, a groan escaping him when he realizes how awful and achy he feels. He’s shaking all over, a phlegmy cough wracking his chest when he tries to sit upright.“Shh,” Chris’s voice soothes, “just rest, for now. You’re running a temperature, babe.”

Someone leaks the Raccoon City report.
-~-
If Leon had looked only an inch to the left, he’d have missed it entirely, but the faint metal glint in the corner of his eye is just visible enough for the breath to catch in his chest, words dying in his throat as he recognizes the telltale gleam of a rifle. He steps backwards as quickly as he can, eyes widening—but the damage has been done.Bookmarked by jarpad

Summary
“Hey there,” Piers said softly as he accepted the call, his smile widening as he let his eyes fall shut. “I thought you were asleep.”
“I could say the same about you,” Leon said, and damn, his voice washed through Piers like summer rain after drought, like soothing balm on his frayed nerves. “Sorry I missed your call earlier. Was… a bit tied up.”
Piers groaned. “Please tell me you don’t mean it literally.”
“Not literally,” Leon answered, a little too fast, and it was enough information for Piers. So there was some technicality that Leon could use to claim that it hadn’t Really Been Like That, and he would try to play it off and pretend he hadn’t actually been in mortal danger at all. The usual.

Summary
Leon was no closer to figuring out what to do with himself when there was a knock on the door. Hesitant, Leon approached, grabbing his gun just in case. He didn’t know what he expected, but it certainly wasn’t Piers Nivans standing there, looking about as miserable as Leon felt. His right arm was in a sling, but otherwise he just seemed absolutely exhausted.
“I’m sorry,” Piers apologized, meeting Leon’s eyes with his own. He was hunched in on himself, so unlike his usual confidence, it broke Leon’s heart. Especially when Piers ducked his head down, giving Leon a small shrug. “I didn’t know where else to go,” he went on, glancing behind himself as if someone was watching him in the empty corridor. “But I couldn’t stay there. I couldn’t.”
Now that Leon understood. Wordlessly he opened the door wider, pretending that he didn’t see how relieved Piers was when he stepped in, like the weight of the world dropped off his shoulders.

Summary
As Piers finally got to the fourth floor he headed down the hallway, already digging through his pocket for the keys. At first he only glanced up, but then had to do a double take as he realized something was off.
Someone was sitting on the floor next to his door. Frowning in confusion, Piers approached, cautious now. He hadn’t exactly gotten visitors here, and it took his tired brain a moment to catch on. Then something about the blond hair and the curve of that nose clicked in Piers’ brain and he stopped in his tracks a good few feet from his door. “Leon!?” he got out disbelievingly.
At that Leon looked up, letting his head fall back until it hit the wall and he could look at Piers through stray strands of hair on his face. A slow smile spread on his face, almost apologetic, and as he spoke his words were carefully slow and measured in a way that immediately gave away that he was either drunk or on drugs. “I didn’t know where else to go.”
