It had been two months.
Two months since Leonardo watched his father die. Since Shredder’s last breath echoed through the ruined halls of that final battle. Since the world stopped spinning and then restarted — quieter, heavier, off-kilter in a way none of them could name.
The lair wasn’t the same anymore.
Gone were the sounds of Master Splinter’s quiet footsteps. The rustling of his robes. The scent of incense. Now, only the hum of the lights and the echo of silence remained.
Leonardo stood in the dojo alone, his posture rigid, his katana slicing air in methodical movements. Again. And again. And again. His body was on autopilot — every motion flawless, but mechanical.
He hadn’t slept properly in days. Maybe a week. The dreams were too much — all flashing steel and screams and blood. And when he did sleep, sometimes he saw him. Not in a peaceful way. Not in the way he wanted. Splinter would be standing there, silent. Watching. Then gone when he blinked.

Reigen shut his eyes.
“...Jus’ can’t afford it.” He kept his eyes closed. Which is the reason he didn’t see Dimple’s shocked face.
Sure, Dimple wasn’t particularly fond of the conman, and their relationship was based mostly on bickering, but that didn’t mean he wanted to hear that Reigen couldn’t even afford something as basic as food for himself.
