spencer agnew is the captain of the st. charles soccer team. he didn't have any interest in being captain, really, but when the previous captain graduated, he insisted that no one was better for the job. spencer is beginning to think that was some kind of sick joke.
tommy bowe is the captain of our lady of perpetual sorrow's soccer team, and he's everything that spencer isn't. tall, serious, smart, and actually good at soccer. (he's also really, really hot. spencer can't tell if he wants to punch him or make out with him. probably both.) he's also spencer's biggest rival - because of course he is.

Chanse had bought a gift for Angela’s birthday. That wasn’t abnormal. What was was that it was apparently waiting with some guy somewhere just on the border of California and Arizona. It would take too long for it to be shipped and really the drive was what? Five hours? Six or seven? Not that many in the grand scheme of things. So he was going to pick it up.
Shayne had a lot of work to do. Places to go, people (unfortunately) to see. His head was buzzing with lists, with scripts, with ideas he couldn’t type out fast enough in his notes app. So, of course, he said he would go with him.

Summary
There came a noticeable shift in public opinion regarding androids, but society remains divided. Reports of missing androids amplified after the android revolution, leaving lead detective Gavin Reed overwhelmed (and irritated).
A change of pace is granted to Gavin when two humans are murdered in an alleyway one night. What appears to be an open-and-shut-case reveals itself to be something much more complicated. Solving the case would complicate itself even further with Gavin and Connor being forced to work with each other.
Whilst balancing work-life, Gavin and Connor try to navigate their personal life, their relationships and what it means to be human.
