    Seonghwa blinks as two chunks of Hongjoong's hair lift from her head. They look like two ears, perking up curiously.

    A dog?

    Seonghwa's mouth is dry as she reaches out to ruffle the hair on top of Hongjoong's head. Hongjoong giggles, and the sound is so tooth-rottingly cute that Seonghwa actually has to move away before she goes crazy. Seonghwa stands, but leans over the couch to plant a kiss in the middle of Hongjoong's forehead before she leaves. "I'll make dinner," she says, and Hongjoong's eyes are wide and excited when she smiles up at her.

    Seonghwa turns away and walks stiffly to the kitchen, because something about those puppydog eyes, framed so prettily by Hongjoong's new hair, is making her unbearably horny.

    She wants to make them cry.

    Then he just rests his forehead against Seonghwa’s and for a moment neither of them moves. The bathwater has gone still around them, the steam curling lazily in the quiet. Seonghwa can feel Hongjoong’s heartbeat through the space between them. “You matter to me more than anything,” Hongjoong says after a while. “You’re the person I look for first in every room,” he continues. “And the person I want next to me when things fall apart.” His thumb traces along Seonghwa’s cheek again. “You’re home, Hwa.”

    —no matter how tall Seonghwa grows, there are moments when he feels like a small child again, lost in a world that’s too big for his emotions, needing reassurance from the people he loves most.

    “They said I lied,” Hongjoong said, remembering the looks on the guards faces, the way one of them had punched him in the gut and threatened to make him regret lying.
    “Did you?” omega asked. There was no curiosity in the voice, like he was asking the question just to entertain Hongjoong or be polite, not because he actually cared for the answer.
    He grinned. “Well, yeah. Had I told them that I’m a pirate and I actually had robbed the facility moments ago, I’d be heading straight to the gallows.” Getting hanged really wasn’t in his plans that day. “Are you going to tell me what landed you here?”
    “They say,” the voice replied, mimicking his tone, “I stabbed someone.”
    “Did you?”
    “If I did,” the omega said, “he was a nasty alpha and deserved it.”

    OR: Hongjoong meets Seonghwa in a prison cell. They're supposed to part the moment they've escaped, but life, as it happens, has other plans. Having a deadly omega on his ship might be the worst and best thing that ever happened to him.
