Sunny looks down at himself. “Are you sure?”

But Basil isn’t a boy like Kel's a boy, all messy and stinky and careless. He's not a gender-void like Sunny, either. He's just… pretty. He's so pretty. He floats around in his stupid pastels with his stupid little hairpins and his stupid-enormous blue eyes and his stupid trembling hands clutched in front of him like hamster paws. And his freckles, just the faintest dusting across his cheeks and his shoulders. And—

It could be worse. It could always be worse, they should be glad it isn’t worse- Toriel could be locked in a bunker starving to death like Undyne might be or flung into a Dark World with no idea on how to survive. They should be glad that the worst possible outcome is a bad hangover and not getting ripped apart by the Roaring Knight.
The music seems impossibly loud, cheer firmly in the realm of agitation. They could probably go down there to ask them to turn it down. They don’t. They can’t stand the sight of them, of their mother and the stranger dancing together, Toriel collapsed on the ground and giggling.
