Summary
With newly minted - and definitely temporary - God powers, Jack Kline has one goal: bring his dad back. However, being all-knowing and all-powerful didn’t come with a textbook, and the threads of the time-space continuum are really uncomfortable to hold, so Jack can’t really be blamed when he accidentally snatches up Castiel from many years in the past - right in the moment before he was deposited on earth to watch Dean rake leaves for a year.
Castiel takes some convincing to return, and Jack is more than happy to show him everything he needs to know.

Summary
“Matt Murdock’s relationship with the concept of snow could probably best be described as complicated.”
or
A lifetime of Matt’s feelings about snow, a glimpse of his life pulling itself back together, and how both of those things changed, on a warm April morning, when the world turned to dust.
Takes place some time post s3 finale.

Summary
“Goodnight, Dean.”
It wasn’t like Cas had never said it before. He’d said it a thousand times. In that same tone, in that same cadence, with that same smile tugging his face into the picture perfect definition of the word fond.
But tonight, it felt like practice. like it was the last “Goodnight” before it turned into “Goodbye.”
The weight of it cracked the resolve Dean had held for so long that he had almost entirely forgotten it was there.

a near miss and a chance never taken

Summary
“I can’t look at him – I can’t look at Jack because when I do, I don’t just see Cas. I see her.”
Sam looks a couple inches closer to walking out. Like a fog has cleared and the weight of expectation has been lifted off his shoulders. Like he’s given up.
His voice is as light as it is sharp, “A girl, Dean? You’re actually going to try and make this about a girl?”
Shame fills Dean’s lungs until his ears ring and he chokes on the weight of the words clawing their way up his throat. He’s going under, attempting to hold back a tsunami with a bucket while his little brother watches with an indifference more painful than his derision.
When he speaks, Dean pitches his voice low in an attempt to disguise the raw edge it has taken on, as if the name had been physically torn from him, entirely unbidden.
“Emma.”
Or
Between 13.04 The Big Empty and 13.05 Advanced Thanatology. Four thousand canon compliant words of Dean Winchester having a breakdown over his total inability to reconcile the fact that the half-human son of Satan himself is just a little boy who needs saving, with the fact that Dean couldn’t save, wasn’t enough to save, his own half-human daughter.

Summary
“You should wear more jewellery, like you used to when we first met.”
Castiel would have been breaking a comfortable silence, but they were currently in a coffee shop in the city centre of Austin, in the middle of a rather annoying vampire case, so he was instead only making a dent in the crowding din of caffeine-addicted morning commuters.
Or: Castiel is REALLY committed to Dean wearing jewellery again. Almost as committed as he is to Dean.

Summary
There is no such thing as a guarantee when it comes to war.
The outcome's known. Why try?
Return your rusty sword to battered sheath,
bow your head and bend your stubborn knee. Why
take the field when you cannot win the war?
But Harry -- he went down to Agincourt.
