Summary
(“Looks like Sleeping Beauty woke up without her kiss!”
“... Why?”)
– God, just thinking about it again has Mio’s face feeling like it’s been set on fire. She’s got the AC on in her room at full blast and her blankets on the floor from how much she’s been tossing around, and she’s still overheating! Because of one! Stupid! Comment! Yuuko just had to say that one word, which totally threw Mio through a loop, and made the silence that stretched between them lie juuust that little bit too long to make it impossible to come back from.
-
In which Mio overthinks, draws a buttload of denial manga, and realizes a thing or two about her best friend.

Summary
“Eliot, do you recognize him?” Hardison asks, slowly.
Eliot frowns. “Yeah, of course I recognize him, he’s the guy Sterling sent after me during the David job, fucker broke my ribs. The hell is he doing here?”
Parker and Hardison and Gail all trade glances that frustrate Eliot. Quinn — Quinn doesn’t even move. Just stays where he is at the doorway, brows furrowed, but gaze abruptly just… blank. Eliot feels an itch under his skin. Why is everyone looking at him like that?
“Why the hell is he here?” Eliot hisses when he can’t stand the silence, and hates the way Parker looks at him with what looks like pity.
“He’s your boyfriend,” is all Hardison says, and Eliot feels his brain go blank.

Or: Eliot accidentally forgets Quinn. No one's happy about this.

Summary
“You got a name, handsome?”
Oh, that’s a good sign. Eliot almost misses it. He’s too busy staring at the guy’s pretty mouth. He catches himself just in time, though, to meet those low-lidded brown eyes and say, “Name’s Eliot, and you should tell me yours.”
The guy winks. “Name’s Quinn, and you should buy me a drink.”

Or: in which McRory's has live bands most nights of the week, and Hardison and Parker's rock duo gets a surprise third member. Eliot could not approve of him more.

Summary
It’s not like he wastes any time either, no fancy theatrics, no flexing his muscle like he usually does when he fights with Eliot (but Eliot isn’t here, is he, and that’s the entire point—) and there’s no need to knock the gun out of someone’s hands, if you could just break their hands. No need to punch faces if you can aim for their trachea. By the time they’re all on the floor, Quinn’s only got a few bruises to show for it, maybe some broken fingers here and there. He doesn’t care. He can spare a few fingers if it’s for Eliot.
-
Or: Eliot gets captured. Quinn does what it takes to get him back.

Summary
Hardison talks to him about yesterday’s football game and Parker’s excitedly telling Quinn about her new lockpicking set and Eliot’s just eating his bacon and eggs, trying not to be too outwardly stunned about how he’s somehow done enough good things to deserve this.
-
Or: Eliot just has a good day.

Summary
“Hey,” Eliot says, smiling sheepishly in Quinn’s doorway, covered head to toe in scuffs and blood, right eye sealed over with how much of it is running from a gash in his brow. He looks like he’d made a dramatic re-enactment of Carrie in an alleyway on a cheap, violent budget. “... You hungry?”
Quinn replies by grabbing him by the shirt collar and yanking him inside.
-
Eliot has a shitty idea for a snack. Quinn's not impressed by it. There really isn't much else to it.

Summary
“Isn’t that why you asked me over?”
Quinn looks up at him, raising a brow. “What?”
Eliot gestures vaguely at Quinn’s busted arm. “You can’t get out and you broke your dominant arm. What else did you ask me here for? Or, what, got a retrieval job you need me to do in your place?”
“Please, like I need your help to punch morons,” Quinn snorts, shutting the fridge. “I asked you here because I’m hungry.”
Eliot blinks. Then looks at the fridge, and looks back up. “You want me to cook the steaks for you?”
“No, genius. I’m hungry hungry, as in,” and here he puts on a really shit impression of an off-brand TV Dracula, “I vant to suhck your bluuhd, kind of hungry.”
Oh.

Quinn's a vampire who needs a snack. Eliot owes him one. There really isn't much else to it.

Summary
The siren from City Hall, the one that can only be sounded in case of danger. In case the city was under threat. In case they had to summon him, because the city needed him. Those sirens are the ones sounding in his ear right now.
He casts a longing glance at this screen, his hand still full of Lucky Charms. Maybe it’s a false alarm, he thinks. Maybe one of the other superheroes will handle it, or The Agency. It doesn’t have to be me.
Then his phone buzzes. He sees the notification: “BREAKING NEWS: FIREMASTER FARADAY RAMPAGING THROUGH CITY!”
Then: “ROSE CREEK REPORTER ALEJANDRO VASQUEZ CAPTURED AGAIN!”
Well, fuck.

Or: The vague, anti-climactic superhero AU nobody asked for.

Summary
The trees are dense, road barely visible and spaces between the trunks narrow, but Eliot keeps going. The only way out is through, Quinn said. He keeps the windows rolled down, his eyes and ears peeled for any sign of enemies, of a possible trap. He doesn’t hear anything but the forest for now, the crunch of dead leaves signalling the start of fall, animals doing whatever in the distance, but he’s on guard anyway. For all he knows he could be driving right into a goddamn field of landmines — he just knows that Quinn needs him and needs him now and fuck, if that’ll be what kills Eliot, then so be it. He’s already signed up for that the first time he tasted Quinn in his mouth and knew he wanted to stay. Never a better time than now, right?
Goddamn it, Quinn.
—
Or: Quinn finally calls in that favour and gives Eliot a heart attack (but it's okay, because there's beer and fishing.)

Summary
It’s nice to spend time around the team, having lunch together on the roof or grabbing ice cream on the walk home, but Haru likes it best when it’s him and Makoto and nothing at all but the routine. Nothing but the ordinary. That’s one of the things he discovers over the week, really — another one of those not-so-revelations, another one of those things he’s known all along but never really took notice of until now, and it’s this:
Often, daily life is mundane.
Haru really likes the mundane, when it’s with Makoto.
---
Or, Makoto works himself sick, and Haru stumbles across some epiphanies that aren't actually epiphanies.

Summary
“One bed per room. Queen sized. Time to pair up and share, gentlemen.”
“I’m with Red,” Billy declares, decisively and abrupt, before Red can even rub two braincells together to digest the situation. “Josh and Alejo should pair up.”
Billy looks inhumanly nonchalant. Josh is already making noise. Alejo looks torn between amused and infuriated, while Goodnight and Sam just look amused.
Not that Red would know. His cognitive function record-scratched after Billy’s mouth opened.
—
Or: There's a wedding, there's a hotel, and there's only one bed. Red might be a little bit screwed.

Summary
“Nick, you can’t be serious,” Judy speaks up all worried, snapping him back to the present, “You’re not going home until they make sure your vitals stay stable. And you are not going back into work so soon.”
Nick very, very gently shoves the dull ache in his chest aside to roll his eyes instead. Loudly. “Carrots, it’s just a stab wound. It’s not like I got shot or anything. I’ll be fine.”
Judy’s eyes bug out at him. It’d be funny in any other circumstance, just like when she starts gesturing wildly at air at the comment. “Just a stab wound — Nick! Being stabbed isn’t something you can just shrug off! You got stabbed!”

Summary
This means he’s another person on Eliot’s list. Another person Eliot has to watch out for. And Eliot — with the conscience bigger than he could ever give himself credit for, who’s been searching for absolution for over a decade without knowing it’s been coursing through his blood all along — will do anything for the people he cares about. If Quinn gets hurt, Eliot gets hurt. If Quinn gets in trouble, Eliot gets in trouble. And when Quinn gets hurt and in trouble, it’s suddenly not just his problem anymore — it’s Eliot’s, too, and Quinn knows down to the barest bones of his soul that Eliot would fight god and walk backwards into hell for Quinn. To keep Quinn safe.
And that, more than anything since he started his career as a hitter, is what scares the shit out of Quinn the most.
Or: Quinn cares about Eliot, and Eliot cares about Quinn, and Quinn's counting the days until this gets them killed.
