"'You ,' he spat venomously. His finger jutted out. "Where the hell’ve you been?!"
Ponyboy's mouth dropped open. He pushed himself up on his good arm. 'You can't be serious! I just saved your life! A thank you would be nice!'
'You don't get it!' Steve stepped forward so that he was towering over him. Ponyboy did his best to seem as defiant as possible, meeting his wild gaze. "Three months, Ponyboy. You have been gone three months, and you, what, show up now? Glory, you always have shitty timing, ya know that? Coulda returned at any time, and you chose tonight of all things.'"

Arthur fumbled with his gun, a small cattleman that sat on his side. It wasn't much, but by god it was something, and whatever this was, he wasn't going to go down without a fight. His heart pounded, apt to leap up into his throat as a dark figure came crashing out.
Only to freeze.
Arthur had his gun ready, his mouth dry as he watched the small dark thing stare him down. It weren't any bigger than a rabbit, all black with a pair of white stripes racing down its back. Despite his nerves, Arthur forced out a laugh.
“That's all you was? Why—you ain't nothing to get all worked up over. The hell is you anyway?”
