Summary
While it was far from his most vulnerable song, something about "Lost Summer" felt like a confrontation of certain moments Aaron never allowed himself to dwell on. He tried to fight Renee and the band on the decision to release the song, ignoring Neil's accusation that he was only so stubborn because it concerned Kevin. He lost the fight of course, and in that moment Neil was giving a brief introduction to what the song was about. It was a pre-approved speech, as most speeches are for them during live shows, and it barely touched on the real emotions Aaron poured into his lyrics. Wishing for a time machine, a chance to do-over a period of your life and get it right the second time around – Renee believed it was a generic enough theme in songs that people wouldn't automatically connect it back to Aaron's experience during the summer he spent in rehab.

Changmin supposes he should have known how stupid the man could be since the beginning, what with getting his leg damaged only ten months into his military service while trying to rescue a teammate from under a collapsing building.

Sirius' head jerks round, eyes wide with shock. Remus is still speaking but all Sirius can hear now is white noise. He stares at Remus, who is carefully constructing his chicken sandwich as he talks, seemingly unaware of the conversational grenade he's just launched into the room.
"What?"
"You know, Rita Schaffer? She was that 4th year who had that incident with Bleatchley's Beauty Bleach in '75 just after our exams and Madam Pomfrey had to regrow all her hair-" Remus starts as he puts down the tomato but Sirius cuts him off with a sharp wave of his hand.
"No, not that, you idiot. The other bit. You said - you said you're in love with me?"

He swallows hard, struggling with himself one last time and losing. “I need your help,” he manages to whisper, voice cracking.
The air in the room immediately changes. The wound up tension drains out of Steve, his posture and voice going soft. “Sure, Buck,” he says, cautiously moving back toward him. Bucky can’t move, his arms locked tight around his knees, and he can’t lift his gaze higher than Steve’s knees either. Steve pauses when he’s still a few feet away, squatting down and angling his head in an effort to see Bucky’s face through the curtain of his hair. “Anything. What do you need?”
It’s everything Bucky can do to hold still, every cell in his body vibrating with the need to throw himself into Steve’s arms. He opens his mouth, but his throat sticks and he has to swallow again before he can force the words out. Slowly, by sheer force of will, he drags his gaze up to meet Steve’s eyes. “I need you to fuck me.”
