Summary
Alternate universe. In this world, there was no Sgrub session, and a few events from the human space age have happened earlier, but these are only minorly related to the plot. After a failed Alternian invasion of Earth, humans managed to turn the tide and end up winning the war, and enslaved the entirety of the Alternian people.
John decides to purchase a troll without being fully aware of the reality of the situation, instead believing much of "common knowledge" instead, and realizes the reality of what humanity has really done and tries his best to cope with a language and cultural barrier and create an environment for his new troll to live in.
Rating and warnings are for later chapters, and are a bit conservative, but I prefer to rate my fics higher if I'm on the fence about a rating or warning.

Summary
Thirteen years ago, found abandoned and without a memory but his name, a small boy was taken into the Maryams' care.
Karkat Vantas has had many a nightmare since he was found that day. Every time, it was the same in the sense that he always ended up drowning one way or another. He often ponders why it is he has these dreams.
That is...until a certain red eyed creature from deep below the ocean offers to show him.

Summary
You're pretty sure your three friends just think the trolls were part of the game, NPCs made as a construct to make your game more interesting and more immersive, but at the beginning you got to choose the race of your team, and no other walkthroughs of Human teams mention having a team of voice-acted troll NPCs fighting with them.
You think they hacked in.

Summary
Karkat Vantas always accepted the fact that he was not going to live past nine sweeps. It was just a certainty of his sad, miserable life. At least, that was until his friends found out and decided to hatch a plan to get him out of the Alternian empire. A plan that actually worked.
Now, he was stranded on an alien planet, at the mercy of some strange creature that was either trying to help him or going about some freaky ritual of flirting with your food before you eat it.
Also, aliens have sunglasses.
He was better off dying on Alternia, wasn't he?
