Summary
There's a newcomer to Palmetto. A newcomer with strange scars and even stranger mannerisms. A newcomer with flaming red hair and piercing blue eyes that Andrew can't look away from.
To Andrew's extreme annoyance, the newcomer is the only other person in Andrew's overly superstitious village who is not afraid to venture into the supposedly haunted forest. Night after night, he and Andrew cross paths. Night after night, Andrew becomes further entangled into the web of lies masquerading itself as Neil Josten.
Soon after Neil's appearance, though, bodies begin showing up. First animals drained of blood, and then villagers. Rumors circulate of a monster living among them, and all suspicions turn to the newcomer.
Andrew won't let Neil fall victim to the angry townspeople. Still, he can't help but wonder.
What if the reason that Neil was never scared of the horrors in the woods is because he was one of them?
