Astarion was purebred. There was no doubt about it.
He was built like a newborn colt, or a racing hound, all long lines and sharp angles. The movement of his wrists, the angle of his knees, the way his nimble fingers flipped a coin or key or stolen good from one knuckle to the other were all signs of it. Of his refinement. His grace. His elegance. He laughed like an aristocrat, spoke like a poet, and clutched a goblet of wine like a Prince.
Astarion was purebred, and Axil hated him for it.
Axil and Astarion can't stand one another. Yet, as their daily brushes with death and the journey to defeat the Absolute brings them closer, each will have to confront the ghosts of their past in order to survive the chaos of the present. Along the way they discover that, just maybe, conquering your demons is a bit easier with someone by your side.
Fic accompanying the journey of my Tav Axil, a genderfluid tiefling ranger, through the events of Baldur's Gate Three.
