Arthur gestured to a spot on the table behind him. “What’s that, then?”
Merlin slowly twisted around to see what he was pointing at, dread curling in his gut. Primly placed on the tabletop was a bouquet of red roses.
“Er, someone else must have left them there. I have no idea where they came from,” Merlin lied awkwardly.
As if on cue, a rose fell out of his jacket pocket and Merlin's stomach dropped a thousand feet beneath the ground.

It's Yuletide, the newly appointed Court Sorcerer of Camelot is pining and his magic decides to do something about it.

Summary
Alternative Title: Gwaine’s Surprisingly Not Horrible Actually Pretty Good Idea
No matter what Arthur does he can't seem to convince the Mages of Chemary that he really has permanently lifted the ban on magic and made peace with those who practice it. Gwaine is sure his plan is brilliant and foolproof: Arthur simply needs to marry a magic user, because what more permanent union is there than marriage? And isn't it convenient that Merlin is the Court Sorcerer?
