Summary

Summary
Makarov became obsessed with Soap and nursed him back to health after shooting him in the head in the tunnel. The 141 thinks he's dead until Ghost and Price find him living an idyllic life with the very terrorist they'd been chasing to exact revenge on Soap's behalf. Soap only has bits and pieces of his memories, none of them involving the 141. Ghost tries to push him away to "protect" Soap from their old life. Gaz and Rudy are not happy about Ghost's behavior in the slightest. Soap loses grasp of what's real and what isn't.

Summary
Rudy was the one to clean up the aftermath. However, this time when everything died down, all the cleaning was done, and everyone went to bed Rudy walked out to the docks and broke down.
He usually sheds a couple of tears. Cried quickly and quietly, then moved on. This time though Rudy shook as sobs broke from him, hiccuping harshly. The tears just wouldn’t stop.

Summary
Soap wouldn’t say that he was vanilla. He liked being tied up as much as the next guy, and being treated like a dog did something to his brain that he was a little too embarrassed to analyze. Even so, Ghost and Price had him beat on that front by miles. He’ll admit that he remains surprised that Price is just as hopelessly degenerate as Ghost, but he supposed that a man in a position of power like their Captain didn’t come without their quirks. Not to say that he was complaining. Norns, being with those two is the most fun Johnny has had in his life. Still, they never fail to surprise him with their ideas.

Ghost wasn't exactly the picture of mental health. There were benefits to being a dead man— that being that psych evaluations weren't something he had to worry about— but it didn't mean that it left him perfectly okay. He was probably worse off than your average soldier… Definitely worse off. But, as long as he could do his job, he wasn't a liability.

"Ghost," Soap says, sharper this time, a little edge of order in his voice. Ghost's shoulders tense, roll up. He winces and straightens again, staring up at Soap. The eye contact is settling, a little - seeing Ghost's eyes focus on him is reassuring, tells Soap that Ghost is with him at least. He forces a smile. "What's goin' on in that pretty little head, huh?"
He means it to tease, hopes it'll make Ghost roll his eyes, scoff and shove at him, as he always has when Soap turns flirty and intimate. Ghost's boundaries are well-known and well-respected - he likes the social play of it all, comfortable in platonic submission that lets Gaz and Soap and Price needle at him, seek reassurance that he's their steadfast and constant foundation, but pulls a hard and fast stop when it progresses too far. Soap expects to hit that wall, to get a little snark and be dismissed as a worrying mother hen.
But Ghost just stares up at him, unblinking, his eyes unbearably warm, cheeks flushed along the edges of his mask.
Soap frowns, reaches out to put the back of his hand on Ghost's forehead. Ghost's lashes flutter weakly.
"Think I'm droppin'," Ghost mutters, leaning into the touch.
