Summary
Soft scraping finally draws Erwin's attention, the barely-there sound almost deafening in the lifeless stacks. Adjusting his route, Erwin slows, pulling out a cold iron knife purified with salt before rounding to the next aisle. Lips pursing, brow furrowed, he stills when he finds himself confronted with nothing. There's silence again, and then… the scraping returns.
The eastern alcove.
Peering into the dreary shadows, Erwin sees something just as elusive sprawled in an overstuffed chair before the empty hearth.
"Levi." Erwin greets his after-hours guest with a touch of exasperated fondness, his grip relaxing on the blade in his hand. He sheathes the weapon and neatly tucks it away. "Are you my ghost?"
