When Summer was younger, she used to play a little game. The rules were simple: when your friends all talk about the boys they like, you pick one to like as well, you make up things you like about him–like his eyes, or his smile, or his laugh–and when you tell you friends, you act like the thought of even discussing it makes you flustered and embarrassed. It’s an easy act to put up and Summer Dileo loves acting. So, this little game of Summer’s came to her as easily as breathing. Almost too easily…
Or; Summer after she comes to terms with the fact she’s a lesbian. She begins to feel more comfortable with herself and with her identity - refuses to let any boy try to “fix her”. Summer is complete as she is, and she is happy and comfortable with her identity :)

Summary
Spotting Summer, Jade’s bà ngoại and ông ngoại pause their quiet mix of singing and humming and greet her with warm smiles and inviting hugs. They explain that they’ve already cleaned the apartment and now only need to decorate and cook for the upcoming festivities. Summer notes that the house, even with very few decorations at the moment, already looks amazing.
Summer thinks it looks beautiful and she tells them as such, happy to be there and excited to see more of the decorations. What she doesn’t say, in fear of embarrassing herself, is that her happiness to be here is suddenly swamped by a flurry of butterflies in Summer’s stomach that make themselves apparent when Jade looks at her with an expression of pure excitement. She feels a lovesick grin cross her face and, determined to not look stupid, tries to suppress the inevitable flush that spreads across her face. Summer swears that during this, she will not make a fool of herself.
Her plan does not go well.
Or; where Summer realises just how much in love she is with Jade during their Lunar New Year celebrations and is determined not to make a fool of herself.

Summer is lying next to Jade in a small grassy field not too far away from her house. Wildflowers peak through strands of hair; daisies and dandelions find themselves in an ocean of their dark brown where Summer’s curls meet Jade’s purple streaks. The two girls are smiling at one another like they create all the stars in the sky without really understanding what that means. Because Summer finds herself to be the happiest around Jade—she smiles more, she laughs more, she loves more—but that is a simple fact, not a dangerous admittance. Summer is happy around Jade not because that means anything to her yet, but because she simply is, and that’s all that there is to it.
Or; Summer isn't aware of just how much she thinks about Jade and doesn't understand that loving Jade like one loves the moon is really gay. But we do. :)
