Summary
In retrospect, this was all Feyre’s fault for not doing enough research. She had just been so relieved– she’d been putting in applications for office jobs for years and this was the first one to ever respond. Somehow she had made it through three rounds of interviews and she was finally here, on her first day.
It was technically just a job in the mail room, but still: it was a 9-5 position with full benefits, something Feyre had never had before. She’d only held a series of shitty service jobs in the past, but now that Nyx was older, she needed stability. Needed a daytime job that would pay her bills. Needed health insurance– god, did she need health insurance.
After a one night stand that resulted in pregnancy, Feyre has every intention of never seeing the father of her child again. Life has other plans.

Summary
Before Mor left for her study abroad program, she had gripped Feyre by the arms, stared into her soul and said: “While I’m gone, if you need anything- and I do mean anything- promise you’ll call my cousin. I can’t go without knowing you’re taken care of.”
She had agreed- Mor never asked anything of her, and Feyre would do anything to ease her mind. The problem was that she couldn’t be normal around her cousin.
Mor’s cousin, Rhysand, was life-ruiningly hot. The kind of hot that should be illegal, especially for girls like her. He was also older than her: more than twice her age, with laugh lines and silver hair and reading glasses and creaky knees- and that did things for Feyre. He was also unfailingly kind to her. Altogether a deadly combination for a fatherless, unloved 19 year old.

Admittedly, the liquor did feel a little different from the wine. Colors began to glow and the air smelled sweeter. Something warm and wet was beginning to blossom in my stomach, a thick syrup pouring deep into the space between my hips. Arousal drifted its finger across my neck and suddenly everything looked delicious. Alis had told me to keep away from the wine, Rhys had told me to keep away from the liquor. I was starting to feel like everyone was horrible at giving advice.
With the third trial looming, Feyre learns to embrace the reality of her mortality, allowing herself to let go of some of the dogmas that threatened to ensnare her to unhappiness in what she believes are the last few days of her life. Meanwhile, Rhysand grows frustrated when he can’t find an explanation for the liability that is his increasingly debilitating attraction to Feyre.
A dual-POV retelling of Under the Mountain that focuses on the unlikely comradeship developing between Feyre and Rhysand.
