Summary
Dressed not unlike a real life Indiana Jones and accompanied by her trusty teddy friend Leonard, Laura Lee looks like a warrior.
“You have your purpose,” She says, eyes briefly darting to the crowd of anxious Yellowjackets. Natalie looks over, gulping at the intense look Lottie is shooting at the both of them. “And this is mine. We do desperate things to protect those we love.”
Natalie turns back to Laura Lee and offers a tight-lipped smile.
“I understand.” She lowers her voice, being extra careful so Coach Scott doesn't overhear. “But as soon as something feels off, you jump out. We can find another way home, but we can’t find another you. Lottie would be devastated if she lost you.”
Laura Lee nods, a small, rare smile gracing her lips. It makes Natalie grin too.

“She’s outside.” Crumbs smeared her lips, Van wipes her mouth with her sleeve and smirks. “Hold your horses, loverboy. Tai already went to grab her.”
Natalie grumbles, rolling her empty bag of chips into a ball before launching it across the room.
It lands a satisfying smack on Van’s nose, her dramatic whining earning amused giggles from the few teammates still loitering about the living room while the rest shuffle about, spreading out sleeping bags and distributing blankets.
“Put a sock in it, Palmer.” Natalie ducks to hide her red cheeks, fiddling with the soccer keychain on her backpack just to have something to do with her hands.
Lottie is still not back yet. She just worries, that's all.

When he only saw daylight, he now sees the trail of silver stars at its tail.
“Wow…”
“Do you see it?” Clearer than the sun. “That’s you, Malcolm. The magic that flows inside you. The magic that makes you you.”
A lump appears in his throat, his hand twitching in reflex. It’s been a few years now since they first laid hands on him, but his deformed fingers hadn’t stopped hurting at random times. He doesn’t think they ever will.
“Are we dangerous, Rory?”
“Only if we want to be.” She answers as if rehearsed or prepared. Malcolm believes her regardless. “There’s a saying I’m particularly very fond of, kindness is a choice. It is the choices you make every day, and being kind in a world this fucked up takes a lot of trying.”
Malcolm blinks at the sudden swear, half-wondering if he’s going to get in trouble. But Rory is smiling like she knows, and Malcolm remembers just how much safer he already feels with them.
“I want to learn everything.”
“In due time I will teach you. We have the rest of our lives.”

Summary
Ever since she first found out they existed, Rumi’s entire feed has been nothing but KATSEYE.
Granted, this is probably a shared experience amongst millions of people when it comes to discovering the global girl group, but Mira hasn't yet seen Rumi taking to a fellow band so quickly and so intensely before.
Watching all their music videos, listening to all their songs, even looking for all their interviews. Rumi is quite literally the definition of fall hard and fast.
It's cute.
Mira had been worried about her state of mind since the Idol Awards, so to see her pursuing a hobby that isn't bearing the weight of the world or her godmother’s misguided beliefs makes her heart flutter.
Rumi is, after all, rather irresistible when she’s determined. A predator and prey situation, if you get her drift.
Plus, Mira totally gets it.
KATSEYE is hot.

Natalie glances over, heart crawling into her throat.
“I mean,” Lottie adds quickly, all practiced ease, “what’s the rush? We just—let it ride, right? We’re good liars. One week, some matching sundresses, a few Instagram stories with captions like ‘honeymoon bliss’—my parents will be too busy to notice.”
Natalie stares at her. “You want to fake a marriage for a week.”
