It only now occurs to Will that Louis likely wants much more than the chaste kisses he had envisioned placating him with; the sun has completely disappeared under the horizon and dim light casts long shadows across Louis’ form, who looks as though he wants to absolutely devour him.
In which Will decides to take matters of saving the prince into his own hands by flirting with the enemy, and in return gets more enthusiasm than he anticipated. Louis has taken a shine to him and Will must navigate their transactional relationship while also plotting to bring about his demise.

“—I lose you. There isn’t a place I could send you on Storm safer than this city.” He smiles. “Allow me to do my duty, lord marquess.” The title sounds funny on his lips.
Joshua rises and sorts himself. “I can order you to stay.” He won’t, and he wouldn’t.
Clive’s smile tugs to one side. “You can try.”
