Summary
After being unceremoniously kicked out of the bunker, Castiel disappears for several months without so much as a breadcrumb trail. Dean searches high and low but comes up empty. Drowning in liquor and guilt, he's starting to lose hope until Garth calls to offer him a strange case. Dean jumps at the chance to get out of the bunker and back on the road, even if it means leaving Sam behind. But what he finds, is so much more than he bargained for. While Dean is more than ready to atone for his mistakes and show a reluctant Castiel just how much he matters, the universe isn't going to make it that easy. Metatron's seen the future, and he's hellbent on changing it so that he finally comes out on top. Castiel and Dean will have to travel to the ends of the Earth, into the bowels of Hell, find their way through Purgatory, and take on Heaven itself to reverse the spell and save the world - again.

Summary
And finally, Dean thought about Cas.
What it would all mean to have Cas in his entirety, in every way imaginable. To have him sleep caressed and sun-kissed beneath early morning sheets, the weight of his fingers tracing Dean’s palm down peaceful corridors, his scent cloaked in Dean’s very bones. To have his warmth as comfort and his hands as a guide that slid over Dean’s skin with familiarity. No more tentativeness, no more skimming the edges and tracing the seams of their story.
Peace. He wanted peace. But with Cas back from the Empty with his memories shredded, and Jack nowhere to be seen, what would peace even look like? And, after everything, was it something Dean deserved?

1. “He had done it all by himself. No begging or praying for it to all go away, because praying meant there was hope.”
Fuck, what few fucked up lines!! Reminds me of my own shit, except I didn’t pray cuz I knew only I could save myself. Ch 1 and reflections on Dean’s childhood have personally injured me & made me thankful for my own coping mechanisms.
2. “You embarrass me.”
How such a mundane thing as a grocery run turns into this lovey sad hopeful fierce and funny scene. Just brilliantly written. I can picture this scene being filmed so easily. A scene full of subtle character moments.
3. Garth naming his kids after who Dean loves most!! Shut up!!
4. the happy Dean moments are killing me and then bringing me back to life.
5. The emotional jourmey and the healing! Good work, Dean...
6. Sam and Dean having a full-ass conversation about Dean's shit! Humour included... Thank you! -

Summary
And when he’s alone, when Sam’s gone, or he’s lying in bed… no matter how hard he tries to avoid it, every time he closes his eyes Dean keeps flashing back to that last, horrific moment—Cas smiling as he’s consumed by darkness. “You changed me,” and “I love you,” and “goodbye.” He tries to reconcile it in his head, Cas loving him so much that just expressing it was enough to trigger his deal. He tries—and fails. He must have missed a step, lost in the grief and horror of the moment, because it just… it can’t be real. Every time he tries to take it out and examine it, his mind shies away, throwing up an impenetrable wall of “impossible.”
In the weeks following Chuck's defeat, Dean tries to come to terms with Cas's confession and death. But having your kid become god turns out to have some perks.

Summary

“We’re supposed to be out of the life, Cas,” Dean says. “And Sam just brought it home. So, what, now we’re just gonna raise the kid? Hope that we’re better parents than our dads were so he doesn’t grow up wanting to destroy the world?”
“He’ll just be a baby,” Cas murmurs. “Can’t we give this child the benefit of the doubt? A chance, at least, to make his own choices?”
Dean shakes his head. “The whole thing just scares me. I don’t know how to protect you guys. What if something happens to Sam, or to Claire, or to you?”
“Nothing will happen to us,” Cas promises. “Have some faith.”
