Thing taps her shoulder in steady, grounding beats. Calm down, breathe, but her chest feels too tight to listen. She doesn’t wait for Agnes. Her legs are already moving, tearing toward a nearby police car. The officers are scattered, shouting orders, chasing the Hyde, clearing the ward. No one stops her. Agnes slips into the passenger seat with a smug little grin. Somewhere behind them, a voice shouts for them to stop, but it’s swallowed by the pounding in her head and the distant wail of sirens. Enid slams her foot down, steering toward the sound.
“Bold,” Agnes nods.
“Shut up,” Enid grits her teeth so hard she's afraid they'll fall out. “And for the record, I'm her biggest fan.”
