“You’re bleeding,” Wilbur says instead of answering, leaning over to wipe shakily at the crimson streaking down the side of Tommy’s nose.
Tommy shrugs. “I think Dream clipped me with his knife on the way out. No big deal.”
No big deal, Wilbur thinks hysterically. Just got a minor knife wound whilst escaping from the headquarters of a murderous secret society. No big deal.

Aaron throws himself onto the grass at the top of the hill, shaking strands of blond hair out of his eyes. He hugs his knees to his chest and stares upward, awestruck.
“Pretty cool, huh?” Call says, sitting down beside him. Havoc snaps cheerfully at a moth as it flutters past, then contents himself with flopping down on Call’s other side, letting out a huff.
“Yeah.” Aaron’s voice is barely a breath, soft and reverent. He looks absolutely enamoured with the view above them. Call doesn’t blame him.
“Wanna spot constellations?” Call asks.
“I don’t know any,” Aaron admits.
Call bumps his shoulder gently. “I’ll show you.”

Grantaire wakes up with blood on his hands.
He’s lying on the floor, he realises, the wooden floorboards pressing roughly against his cheek. His chest is aching and he doesn’t know why. There’s no bottle in his hands, and as he slowly flicks his gaze around the room, something doesn’t seem right: the smell of gunpowder lingers in the air, and the furniture is broken and scattered. A carbine lies, discarded, on the floor.
The world is very, very still.
Grantaire survives the barricade, but it feels like he's left half of himself behind with the rest of Les Amis, and he doesn't know if he can move on.
