“You wanted a reaction,” Caitlyn said. “And you got one.”
“Did I?”
“Yes,” she snapped. “You knew exactly where I was standing all night. You knew I was watching you.”
“I did,” Vi said, frustratingly smug. “The whole time.”
Caitlyn swallowed. “And you were watching me too, you know.” Her arms were still crossed, but the posture felt flimsy now.
Vi hesitated and leaned closer, voice low and rough. “I know you liked it.”
“You don’t get to decide what that meant,” Caitlyn scoffed.
Vi laughed quietly, humorlessly. “Then tell me, cupcake. What did it mean?”
OR
Caitlyn and Vi can't get along. One night at a bar is apparently all it takes to break the tension.

Summary
Lara looks so lost, so miserable that Sam can’t stop the next stupid thing that slips out of her mouth. “I mean, it’s hard enough to get over you without you reminding me you’ve got, like, a legitimate twelve-pack.”
And Lara’s laughter, so bright and startling, draws echoing giggles from Sam, deflates the suffocating tension that had been building between them for months. Sam gives in, lets herself sink forward to rest against Lara’s body for just a moment.
“I don’t want you to,” Lara breathes into Sam’s hair after a long, silent moment. “I don’t want you to get over me.”

After months of no calls and no texts, Sam comes home to find Lara waiting for her in her apartment.

Summary
Lara Croft is used to being late. It's not a trait of hers she's particularly proud of, but it's a useless one to deny. For a brief time, at uni, she'd thought she'd been cured of the condition having dedicated herself to the studious use of alarms and reminders and personal calendars to cope with her course load and the unexpected emergence of her increasingly rich social life. But after Yamatai, she'd slipped back into old habits, had resigned herself once again to the fact lateness was, perhaps, another aspect of the Croft legacy she'd inherited.
Unfortunately for Lara, she didn't have any extraordinary, reality-warping or roguishly near-fatal excuses to cite this time: she'd simply slept through her bloody alarm.
