    “Do you remember the first time we came out here?” Clancy asked, watching as a group of ants carried leaves backwards and forwards.

    Torch chuckled. “How could I forget? I don’t think I’d ever seen you so happy before.”

    “S’not like you had a lot to go off, we’d barely known each other for three weeks.”

    “I still watched though,” Torch sat on a fallen log as he watched Clancy begin to sketch the ants, tongue peeking through his lips in concentration. “You looked so lost until then, like if you were to relax, you’d find out that it was all a dream.”

    “It did feel like that sometimes. It’s cruel how as soon as I finally felt settled, I was taken again.”

    “Yeah,” a wistful sigh blended into the sound of rustling leaves. “We got you back, though.”

    “You did.” Clancy tossed a smile over his shoulder to Torch. “Which brings me to the second time we came out here.”

    or: Clancy and Torch recall their first time together, and decide that it deserves a do-over.
