Summary
He learns much from the kid this way. The first letter is written frantically, as if in disbelief.
You have no idea how much this means to me, he has written. Robby notices the warp of the paper and the bleed of the ink. Thank you for giving me a fighting chance. I will not waste this.
In which Robby starts sponsoring a medical student from Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Summary
Bond didn’t do families. He had one, once, that he vaguely remembered. He’d met the occasional target’s parents, but only when it was unavoidable, and never as more than part of an investigation. M had come the closest to being something of a maternal figure in Bond’s life (“at least I got something right”), but even at that she was more his commanding officer than anyone remotely affectionate.
This was why, when Q explained (rather forcefully) that he didn’t want Bond to have anything to do with his family, Bond didn’t object.
Unhappily for both of them, it didn’t make any difference.

Summary
The mom didn’t back off.
“Come on,” she nudged, “tell me you’re not single. A man like you shouldn’t be.”
“Well…” Robby said, exhaling softly, “actually, you see that blonde nurse outside? That’s my girlfriend.”
Jack froze.
Ms. Campbell seemed as caught off guard as Jack himself, the smile on her face faltering as the words sank in.
It made sense. Of course it made sense.
Robby and Dana.
Or, Robby and Dana use each other as pretend significant others whenever a patient doesn’t take no for an answer. Jack, being new, has no idea about the arrangement.

Summary
Despite the discovery, his tan was already fading. Surely the tan line on his ring finger would fade too. It would be gone by the time he walked through the doors of the Pitt.
Except it hadn’t.
Much to Robby’s annoyance, and Jack’s delight.
Or, Robby and Jack are secretly married, but a vacation, a suspicious tan line, and a gambling frenzy at the PTMC threaten to blow their cover wide open

Summary
“Heads up, someone’s coming down from pedes to take a look at our baby Jane Doe.” Dana says, phone tucked between her ear and shoulder. Robby feels his entire body stiffen.
“Oh?” He says, trying to go for casual as he leans up against the desk. He looks up at the glowing board above the two of them, scanning for his patients. “Do we know who?”
Dana levels a look at him as she hangs up the phone, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
“The one and only.” She glances over at the black thermos sitting innocently next to them, a bright yellow sticker faded with some age, corners curling, with bold letters saying ‘good job’.
“Ah. Right.”
