Summary
“What is this?” Four interrupted, staring into the classroom with a growing sense of dread. The people inside were rotting. Their skin had turned yellow, bones visible where skin was torn off. Some were eating their own skin, bits that hadn't completely rotted yet. Blood and flesh between their teeth, unintelligible moans of desperation from the ones clawing at the window where Link stood.
Zelda joined them, watching the person leave scratch marks and blood on the glass, tearing their own nails apart.

(Or: Rowan had grown close with Leshy and thought that maybe the ex-god was finally starting to warm up to them, but then strange things started happening. Things that could only be explained by Leshy having some form of strong feelings towards them. If only they knew what those feelings were...)

Wild heard his name being called, hurried commands being thrown around in the background, but the fog was too tempting and it was too hard to pull away. He felt his mind slipping, his grip on the ice doing the same. Icy water climbed up his torso, along his neck, past his chin.
A cacophony of panicked shouts and one terrified, “Cub!!” later, and he felt the water and fog swallow him whole.

Summary
It was an unspoken rule within the group (or maybe it was just their collective instincts that agreed) that the older ones are to look after the younger, and while Legend isn’t older than Wild but by a year, the rule still stood, in the vet’s mind. Would they blame him for getting them both killed? Would they regret sending Legend out with Wild to go patrol before the Shift happened? Would they regret bringing Legend along to begin with, after he got one of their members crushed to death?
This was exactly why Legend never wanted to be a leader. He’s never handled having lives in his hands well.
