Summary
“… I’d say good morning,” Dankovsky said at length, a little hoarsely, “but I’m afraid I’ve lost track of the time. Good … something, Haruspex.”
“Afternoon. You look—” Artemy began, and broke off.
“Yes? What ghoulish thing do I resemble today?” Daniil blew out some smoke, staring pensively ahead. “A striga, perhaps.”
“—better,” Artemy finished. “Less like you’d gone already, and are only haunting me.”
That shut Daniil’s mouth.
[Or: a rendezvous with danger, one very cold winter.]

Summary
He finds himself unmoving, the bite of frost becoming something else on his skin: a strange, numbing sweetness. Drowsy, it plucks at the outer edges of him as though to pick apart the doll’s stitching and coax him down to rest, a dome of snow growing over his body like mould, entombing.
I didn’t come here to die, Daniil lies to himself, one more time.
Or: Daniil returns to the Town-on-Gorkhon. Or so he thinks.

Summary
Resolve renders his face severe again. Like a Burakh, menkhu; like the many demanding names imposed upon him. For a moment, she gets it: she almost feels safe, almost like a real child, in his solid and unwavering presence.
“You are more interesting than I thought,” Clara tells him, half-reluctant.
Something young and merry unstitches Artemy’s expression from its resolute frown. He grins, wide and honest. “Many seem to share this sentiment.”
[Or: Three endings crash into one another. Three Healers are thrust in an unfinished world. The Haruspex walks the House. The Bachelor loses his mind. The Changeling builds a myth.]

Summary
The blooming twyre dizzies, but the point of touch is grounding.
His words, still, come clouded and vague, “This has happened before.”
“Not like this,” Artemy’s voice is rough and curt. Hopeful again. “You never stayed.”
He blinks. “I can’t stay. It’s not how this works.”
[Or; Daniil starts remembering.]

Summary
He inhales sharply at his own name, as though it hurts to hear it. In the pale morning light, his skin is almost greyish, paper-thin. If Artemy reached out, he could trace the sunken shape of his cheek, the small scar of a cut across it.
“Yes, you came here,” Dankovsky says at length, scarcely over a whisper. “You’ve seen—the state of me. Veni, vidi, vici—again, there’s really nothing to say.”
There’s a pause. Artemy draws in a breath. “I won’t say it, then.”
Or; Artemy goes to the Capital.

Summary
The one miracle to come out of all this was Benoit Blanc. Jud had assumed the detective would solve this case and move onto the next one, vanish out of Jud’s life with the same abruptness as his arrival. And he did disappear, often and swiftly, with few niceties or goodbyes.
But then a few days later he’d suddenly reappear: be it at hearings where Jud would have otherwise had to battle the tedium of bureaucracy alone, or online, posting statements to cushion some particularly devastating blows against Jud in the media, Benoit Blanc kept cropping up when he was needed the most.
Or,
An exploration of the "one year later" gap, from the moment the diamond falls from Martha's hand to the moment Jud pulls Blanc in for a hug.

Summary
I knew in my heart that if I slept, my body would take me back to the Crucible like a salmon beating upstream. It is that inevitable, my origin and destination.
When strange sounds are heard at the Crucible, Maria confides her investigation-- sparingly-- in the architect of its Focus, beginning a multidirectional exchange of letters between the visionaries and their perennial co-conspirators. But as unusual phenomena accelerate, the secrets of the Kains: the language of houses and dreams, experimental interactions with the fabric of time, the theory and practice of Memory, and the esoteric science of vitality and the soul-- as well as Maria's own secretiveness-- may threaten the future of their House, and even the afterlife of Wild Nina.

Summary
“Artemy, I told you there was nothing I wanted. You didn’t need to buy me anything; everything there is overpriced. My dear Haruspex, you could have placed the funds toward-”
“I didn’t. I mean, I didn’t buy you anything. I just wanted to give it to you after the children… I think you would want to see it with some privacy-…” Artemy let the sentence run off, doubting whether or not to give what he had in the luggage.
“Well,” Daniil started with a raised eyebrow, “I’m curious now.” He held out his hand.
Artemy didn’t realize how badly his hands would shake when handing over the package, lovingly wrapped in his scarf that he failed to use on the trip.
