Arasha pivoted slowly on her heel in the din of the street to face Trevor. He froze in place, lips slightly parted like he had more to say, but he didn’t. He didn’t have to wonder why she was acting like she didn’t want to be here, when she was the one who called, when she was the one who had no reason to be on the east coast tonight in a neighborhood she had no family in.
“Hi Trev,” she said through a smile, sheepish and reticent.
