    Nico stiffened. “What?”
    “That little shadow trick.” Will’s tone was maddeningly casual. “Cute, but not foolin’ me.”
    Nico didn’t answer. His jaw was tight, eyes fixed on the table.
    Will sighed, his voice softening. “I know you’re not used to eating regular meals. I know it’s hard. But your body’s not gonna heal if you keep skipping. You’re runnin’ on fumes, and one day you’re gonna pass out, and then I’m gonna have to carry you to the infirmary in front of everybody, and you’ll hate me forever.”
    “That would be accurate,” Nico muttered.

    Goals are scored. Bonds are strengthened. Curfews are broken without remorse.

    Nico must conquer the ball before it conquers him. It's easier said than done.

    It starts with a snowball fight—Will Solace glowing beneath winter lamplight, laughter catching in the cold air like a hymn. Nico didn’t know his name then. Only that something shifted inside him when he saw him. A dangerous shift. The kind that leads to emotions. He should’ve gone back inside.

    Over four seasons, fascination turns to yearning, and yearning becomes… inconvenient. Borderline humiliating. Unbearable, if we’re being dramatic about it—which Nico always is.

    He watches from afar: in libraries, lecture halls, between bookshelves at the Greek-myth inspired bookstore where Will works. His friends begin to meddle, armed with suspicion and absolutely no boundaries. They nudge him closer to the boy with sunlit hair and steady hands, like it’s a group project. Nico resists. Obviously. He’s always been good at hiding. But hope, unfortunately, is harder to kill in spring.

    A story of longing, silence, and slow-burning desire—of one emotionally repressed classics student learning, painfully and against his will, that his heart is still very much alive and extremely annoying about it.
