The phone keeps buzzing. Short little—Bzzt. Bzzt. Bzzt. Pause. Bzzt. Bzzt. Jon's about to lose his mind. Whatever it is, it'd better be world ending. Better be a damn invasion from Hell, demons swarming the streets of Metropolis or something. And everyone else is dead, and Jon's the only one left to do anything about it–
Because Damian is spread out beneath him, the scarred expanse of his back—strong shoulders that taper to the prettiest waistline Jon's ever seen in his entire life. The waist that he has to pry his fingers off of to snatch his phone from the side table. He tries to be quick, quick enough that Damian won't notice.
He notices.

Summary
The thought of simply asking himself for guidance—older and settled, unimaginably confident, knowing what he is, what he wants, how to get it—would never have occurred to Damian as a possibility until he is staring the possibility in the face.
They have all met versions of themselves at one point or another, illusory or otherwise. The one that Damian can recall was fake, of course. A figment of imagination, one where he and Superboy were trapped in a lone house on a stray planet with their older selves dressed as lackluster versions of Batman and Superman to keep them trapped.
This is… not that.

Summary
Hands fit around the Robin’s neck perfectly; it is as if he was made for Damian to hold as such. Thumb to thumb, middle finger to middle finger, he squeezes just so. Timothy tightens around him immediately, clenching deliciously. His chin lifts, his hands scrabble as claws, digging furrows into Damian’s back when he doesn’t slow his pace.

Summary
Damian isn't convinced that Jon's ever felt a real emotion. He has never actually been hurt in a way that would warrant such an expression.
Not unless there's Kryptonite piercing his flesh. Then he hurts and he cries and it's very real while he stutters through apologizing for whatever trespass he's attempted. It is probably about time to remind him that he's not some all-powerful god who bleeds golden ichor. His blood is red, it is hot and sticky like anyone else's.

“I’ve been busy. They both understand that–”
“Busy chasing some imaginary idea that your son being sexually assaulted means that there’s going to be a full on invasion. Right. Busy.” Clark turns, refusing to look at him directly. “Bye, Bruce. I’ll see you around.”
He disappears into the building and Bruce is left behind on the sidewalk, feeling as if he’s just taken a hammer to the chest. Broken ribs prised apart to rip his heart from the limp, bloodied carcass left behind.

Or do you want me to knock you out?" When Damian just gapes at him, Jason flicks open one of the pouches on his belt, extracts a dangerous looking needle, and says again, "Last chance. If you can still tell me you want whatever happens, I let you stay conscious. Otherwise, night night little birdie."
