    "No offense but besides myself, Keith is like the hottest person on this team," Lance says.

    His teammates remain silent, their eyes wide as they all stare at him. Maybe that wasn’t the best thing to say. He didn't mean to insult anyone; though he guesses starting off a sentence with ‘no offense’ confirms that he already plans on offending someone. It kind of just slipped out.

    He's about to apologize when he realizes abruptly that they haven't been staring at him this entire time but specifically over his shoulder. Pidge’s face begins to break out into a grin.

    Lance’s shoulders slump. "He's right behind me, isn't he?"

    “I am.”

The pods were killing the flowers as they bloomed, anyway, and he figured he could stretch several more years out of his life like that. But after the castle-ship blows up and the team is forced to travel to Earth in their lions, the disease starts getting a whole lot worse, a whole lot faster.
