Summary
The journalist’s mouth opens in protest, but Cordelia cuts in quicker, “In both stories the ship sinks, my family dies, and I suffer. I will tell my story as I wish it to be told; no more nor less. Will you accept the truth that I am willing to give you?”
A stiff nod is the concession she gets. The journalist’s muscles are infinitesimally tense, and her teeth grind slightly against each other. Cordelia fights her innate urge to pacify, swallowing words formed to appease. She must stand her ground, before it cracks underneath her.
“Begin whenever you are ready,” the journalist says, smile dull and placatory. A twinkle in her eye betrays her interest.

THE. PERFECT. FICCCCCCC DARE I SAY THEE CUCKOLDING FIC EVEN HOLY SHIT!!! the pacing of this is DELIGHTFUL (love essi’s aghast interludes) and the way the significance of their first meeting and the miniatures and the arrangement are rewoven into the narrative in increasingly exciting and emotional ways is!! so well done!! hatoful boyfriend mention made me choke aloud btw i’m obsessed with you. love seeing the relationship development too - yen and jask at the start are starkly different to them by the end, and seeing how all of them express love for each other (even when they’re fearful to label it as such) is EVERYTHINGGGG <33 ciri young and queer and struggling in the background hit so deeply but seeing all the love surrounding her too is just. god. what a delight thank you for the food!! :] <3

“It’s not?” Jaskier sat dubiously back in his chair. “So. Are you – not trying to pick me up?”
Geralt looked askance. “I guess it’s a pick up line.”
Geralt and Yennefer live forever; Jaskier lives again, and again. It takes him a while to come around to the idea.

But before Jaskier has the chance to finish his statement, Yennefer’s hand is sneaking beneath his tunic and yanking it up, undoing the buttons on his doublet with a flick of the finger-
And revealing bruises painted across his torso with far less precision than artists in Oxenfurt wield their brushes. The difference between villagers and their fears of the unknown and how they stain across every stranger they meet and those taught art by the best teachers in the land, Jaskier supposes.
Yennefer’s expression snaps from smirk to scowl instantly, just as quickly as Geralt rises to his feet, going to his bag. “Who did this to you?”
(When some villagers accompany their coin with a lesson for bards who associate themselves with Witchers, Jaskier is ready to tuck himself away from the temptation of touch from a Witcher and a sorceress he is sure don't care about him.
Said sorceress and Witcher might have something to say about that.)
