Zoey could feel her pulse in her throat and she felt sweaty. Not the horny kind, but the angry kind. “Will still punch him the next time I see him.”
“Okay let's switch topics, because no contraceptives anymore? Do you want to tell me something, lil sis?” Now he genuinely sounded like his usual self, a grin in his voice.
Zoey blushed, taking Rumi's pajama shirt and bringing it to her nose, then rubbed it over her neck for a second.
“Yeah, uhm, we talked about it a few weeks ago, and we decided that we want to try… y'know.”

"Mira." Zoey warns.
"And lately? When I look at you? I don't see the girl we grew up with and love."
Rumi's hands begin to shake. "...what do you see?" she whispers.
"A demon. I don't trust you. Not with me, not with Zoey, not with yourself. You're no different than any other demon we've come across. No different than Gwi-Ma."
There is a shocked silence.
Rumi face crumples, it reminds them of the way she begged just a few weeks ago. Begged them not to leave her. To love her. Things had been so good, she was selfish to think she could have this. To want this.
Her tone is flat and resigned. "Oh."-------
or Rumi tries to hide her full demon traits after the idol awards to protect Zoey and Mira from her, and out of fear that their new fragile relationship will break under the reveal. Mira lashes out in the worst way possible after she catches Rumi in yet another lie, and angst ensues.
