A character-driven story centred around the unfolding of an unlikely relationship between Erik and Éponine, with growth and healing for both of them. In this universe, it must be accepted that the Palais Garnier really existed in 1832. Otherwise, all attempt is made to weave elements of both The Phantom of the Opera (pulling mostly from Leroux) and Les Misérables (pulling almost exclusively from Hugo) in a way that meshes as well as possible with established canon.
