It leans over his face and gives Philza the first real glance of his attacker. It’s a man – half-elf if he would have to guess – with ratty brown hair falling around his face. The skin at the cheeks sags and stretches away from the bones, and a slick line of spittle drips out of his mouth. But what catches Philza’s attention is the figure’s eyes. Rusty red veins, the color of dried blood, line the whites of the man’s eyes. They’re stale gray, and a moldy, green scum, almost like algae growing over a still pond, stretches across the iris where there is absolutely no sign of life.
This man is no longer alive.
“Fuck."

He hadn’t even seen the guy since he graduated last year, save for a few times he’d passed the ice cream store at the mall. But now Steve was barreling into his trailer and sweeping this random, redheaded kid into a tight hug that left Eddie feeling extremely lost, hopelessly confused, and— most of all— totally in the way.

“Clearly, uh, Marrigan wanted to have a costume no one else would think of.” Eddie chimes in. For once he sounds almost nervous, though Lucas has no idea why. “I figured I’d let you know, considering your allegiance to Harrington and also the general fact that it’s a pretty fucked up thing to do.”
